We strive to offer excellent resources and services to support your academic and intellectual pursuits — but we also strive to support you as a whole person.
Here at the library, you’ll find a growing collection of resources designed to stimulate and support your overall health and wellbeing.
All are welcome here, whether it’s to study, to rest, or to recharge.
Basom Lounge
Swing by our Basom Lounge at the front of the library for wellness books, pleasure reading books, board games, puzzles, coloring pages and supplies, and other crafts. We also have the latest issues of the New York Times and the Ithaca Journal.
Feel free to spread out at the work tables, or cozy up in the big yellow armchairs tucked around low tables for reading, contemplation, or quiet conversation.
Armchairs & Bean Bag Chairs
Yellow armchairs are scattered around the library, typically in front of our beautiful floor-to-ceiling windows. Curl up with a wellness or pleasure reading book, fill up on tea and gaze out the window, or put your feet up on one of the ottomans.
Bean bag chairs are also available toward the back of the first floor. Feel free to move the bean bag chair to a favorite nook and nod off for a few to recharge.
Outdoor Garden
The poisonous plant garden is right outside the backdoor of the library — and despite its somewhat ominous-sounding name, it’s a lovely space to get some fresh air and soak up the sunshine in warmer weather.
There are tables and chairs on the patio space where you can read, study, chat with friends, or even eat your lunch.
